If your starting with a vocational school project gone bad, that had kids working on it with absolutely no idea what they were doing. Then you take your auto NA that you are trying to convert to a 5 speed TT to a specialist with a torn in half lower core support, a JDM engine and transmission sitting down in it, but nothing hooked up although you actually thought it was ready to just be hooked all up and fire it up. With most of the wires cut off the engine and tranmission, oil pan crushed in, seized turbos, permantely gummed up injectors, in need of a 60k, even though it was an NA still had all the TT power steering pump, brackets, and accessories on it , still has a JDM AC compressor on it, then to top all that off some genius had installed and NA flywheel and clutch inside the TT 5 speed transmission you supplied that was already bolted to the motor. Boy was that confusing figuring out why the sarter wouldn't engage. Plus about a hundred other sensless things we had to straighten out. It all had to be pulled back out and stared from scratch. The most time consuming thing was searching for all the stuff that was so off the wall and out of place that no one would have suspected it. Then the shop performs the following list below on your car and slices their labor rates out of sympathy, but can't properly finish the job because the project runs over budget for you. Finish (redo) TT conversion (use existing motor) Supply and install missing intercoolers, all piping, Radiator, shroud, AC condensor, lines, oil cooler, brackets Z1 maintainence and performance package (and all it includes) Z1 Stage 3 ECU upgrade -External Autometer Boost gauge and pod -Urethane Motor mounts -Stainless Steel Divorced Downpipes -EGR, AIV, Plenum water line elimination -New PCV’s and Hoses installed -Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil and Filter -AC System recharged -60k maintaince (New Timing belt, water pump, seals, and more) -New NGK PFR6B-11B plugs installed New Nissan EFI harness New Nismo 555 injectors with new O-rings and fuel rail/plenum seals rebuilt stock turbos with new oil lines and gaskets replace and reseal valve cover gaskets and associated gaskets crank key way 3 cans of brake cleaner pull, repair, reseal, and replace oil pan to remove dent Z1 onepiece Driveshaft New Greddy Evo 2 Stainless Steel catback exhaust system NA power steering components (NA pump, brackets, bolts, hoses) Manipulate bent lower core support so piping will fit in place Recommendedfixing properly but customer declined New timing belt tensioner and idler pulleys AC Compressor was JDM, install US AC compressor used existing (provided) 02 sensors 3/14064-40p01 rear turbo to downpipe studs New rear main seal installed Good used alternator to replace the one included that wasn't for a Z32 Noticed shifter linakgage wouldn't move and select gears Shifter linkage rod took a hard impact and was bent inside transmission Replace shift rod that goes inside transmission Replace all the sensors on the side of the transmission (wires were ripped out and unrepairable) Replace starter (wires cut on it too short too splice) Good used starter to battery and ground cables, ones on motor were cut. Headlights should be intalled first! Jumped starter relay due to some internal wiring problems new interstate battery
Then during the whole process as we continually find and advise you of more problems that were impossible to see at first your dad calls us and cusses us out several times saying we are making stuff up and trying to scam you. Unbeleivable! I only wish you would have followed Halo's recomedations tried taking this car to some of the other shops in the area. Balanced Performance, AAP, etc so you could see just how reasonable and resourceful we are. If we had it to do over again it would be $20k and that would be a fair price for the parts and time it took. I hope some of the other members here actually take the time to read this and do the math for these parts and estimate the labor time. I'll let someone else tell you what kind of a deal you got.
